Following the footage’s launch, fans took to social media to share their thoughts on the CGI and Kapoor’s portrayal of Lord Rama.

Ramayana fans are loving Ranbir Kapoor’s Lord Rama in new trailer

Ranbir Kapoor’s portrayal of Lord Rama in Ramayana seems to have already captivated fans, even though they only got glimpses of it in the trailer.

“Looks promising,” a user wrote on X (formerly Twitter). They admitted their initial skepticism of Kapoor’s casting, stressing that they now had faith in his capability to play him. Furthermore, they praised the visual effects and cinematography, adding, “Let’s hope they do justice with the historical details, dialogues and screenplay.”

Looks promising, I was not always in favor of Ranbir Kapoor being the best fit for the role, but he's a good actor, I think he could pull this off. And the cinematography and visual effects look really stunning ?, let's hope they do justice with the historical details, dialogues…

Meanwhile, another user affirmed their belief in Kapoor’s ability to do justice to Lord Rama. They noted, “That calm charm, soft innocence, and quiet strength he naturally carries the vibe you’d expect from Shri Ram.”

I genuinely think Ranbir Kapoor has what it takes to do justice to Rama. That calm charm, soft innocence, and quiet strength he naturally carries the vibe you’d expect from Shri Ram.

All fans aren’t fond of Ramayana’s CGI so far

In contrast to Kapoor’s acting as Rama, the CGI and visuals in Ramayana received mixed-to-negative responses.

A fan remarked that the film looked like a “free trial of Unreal Engine with AI background presets” despite being made on a “₹4000 crore budget.” They added, “Big budget, but the visuals are giving low graphics mode.”

4000 crore budget and still looking like a free trial of Unreal Engine with AI background presets

Big budget, but the visuals are giving low graphics mode.

Meanwhile, another fan slammed the first shot of the trailer, labeling it “horrific.” However, they praised the other shots in the footage.

That first shot was horrific. Being compared to another film that came out some years back, barring that, everything is amazing.

Another fan noted that the film was “visually better” than most Indian movies. While they lauded the music, shots, and cinematography, including the Pushpak Viman look, they took issue with some of the action sequences, saying they looked “jittery and slightly video-game-ish.” However, they shared their hope that post-production could fix the issues, noting how the movie still had 6-7 months till its release.

Visually better than most Indian movies but for @dneg @malhotra_namit, some of the action sequences look jittery and slightly video game-ish. Music, cinematography and shots like the #PushpakViman look STUNNING though. Release is still 6-7 months away, post prod can fix these??
