Prince Andrew could face further questions over his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, with over 100 secret emails between the pair said to be under examination.

A source with knowledge of the US investigation into the ‘Epstein files’ said: ‘If you think what’s happened to Peter Mandelson is bad then you have no idea what will happen when the Andrew emails are released.’

‘They are embarrassing and incriminating and he could be destroyed,’ they told the Mail on Sunday for its front page story today.

The US Congress is currently reviewing hundreds of thousands of documents related to paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein, whose death in a US jail cell while awaiting trial was ruled to be suicide.

A 238-page birthday book compiled by former girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell for Epstein’s 50th birthday included a ten-page handwritten message from Lord Mandelson to his ‘best pal’, including a photo of him chatting with the disgraced billionaire while wearing a bathrobe.

He was sacked as US ambassador following the embarrassing revelations, which included emails supporting him after he pleaded guilty to soliciting prostitution from a minor in 2008.

Prime minister Keir Starmer also coming under fire for appointing him in the first place given their association.

It is now claimed that more material could be made public which would put the Duke of York in the spotlight again.

Prince Andrew has also been dogged by his past relationship with Epstein, accused of having sex with alleged trafficking victim Virginia Guiffre while she was 17, which was underage in that jurisdiction.

Another source told the MoS: ‘There are potentially incriminating emails between Andrew, Epstein and Maxwell which haven’t come out yet.

‘If I were Andrew I’d be very worried. Look what the emails did to Mandelson.’

Prince Andrew stepped down from royal duties in 2019, saying the controversy had become a ‘major disruption’ to the royal family.

In 2021, Giuffre, who killed herself earlier this year, filed a civil lawsuit alleging she was forced to have sex with the Duke of York on three occasions, something Prince Andrew has always denied. He reached a settlement with her without admission of liability in February 2022.

A birthday letter that U.S. President Donald Trump allegedly wrote to sex offender Jeffrey Epstein more than 20 years ago is seen as presented by the Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives on their X account September 8, 2025. The letter, the existence of which was reported by the Wall Street Journal in July, appears to have been signed by Trump, but he has denied doing so and has said the card does not exist, and the White House has denied its authenticity. Donald Trump has also faced questions about his relationship with Epstein.

A copy of a lewd birthday letter that he allegedly sent was among those released by US lawmakers.

House Democrats shared the note – which Trump has denied writing – on X more than a month-and-a-half after it was first reported to exist.

The letter includes Trump’s signature as well as text inside the outline of a naked woman.

Its final line states: ‘A pal is a wonderful thing. Happy birthday – and may every day be another wonderful secret.’

Democrat congresswoman Melanie Stansbury, who sits on the oversight committee which is reviewing the files, said: ‘We are currently working on a list of additional documents, witnesses and others associated with these crimes that the committee intends to move a vote for subpoenaing.’

She said that anyone who had contributed to the 50th birthday book is ‘likely to be called to explain their actions’.

Buckingham Palace has been contacted for comment.
