2026 has been a year full of ups and downs for Gerard Butler, who starred in one of the biggest sci-fi bombs of the year with Greenland 2: Migration. Despite the combined star power of Butler and his co-star, Morena Baccarin (Deadpool, Sheriff Country), the film grossed less than $45 million at the box office against a $90 million budget, meaning it lost the studio around $100 million. Butler then starred in one of the biggest Netflix movies of the summer, In the Hand of Dante, the 700-year-spanning crime thriller with Oscar Isaac and Al Pacino. Looking forward to next summer, Butler will star in the sequel to his highest-grossing movie of all time, How to Train Your Dragon, which is expected to be one of the most profitable box office hits of the summer — the film is coming to theaters on June 11, 2027.
