One of Netflix‘s popular crime series is returning for another season and is available now to stream in its entirety on the platform.

What Netflix crime TV show is back for another season?

Crooks Season 2, the next entry in the German thriller drama series, is back for a second season. The first season of the show premiered in 2024, and is based on the Big Maple Leaf heist, a real-life heist that saw a Big Maple Leaf coin, valued at $4 million, stolen in 2017. The show comes from creator and showrunner Marvin Kren, and stars Frederick Lau and Christoph Krutzler as Charly and Joseph, respectively.

Other stars featured in the second season include Svenja Jung, Jonathan Tittel, Brigitte Kren, Lili Epply, Lukas Watzl, Georg Friedrich, Florian Carove, Mimi Tao, D Gerrard, Thomas Mraz, Mark Ivanir, Maya Unger, Jan Georg Schütte, Raymond Thiry, Merab Ninidze, Martin Zauner, Marlene Hauser, and Lucas Gregorowicz.

In Season 2 of the show, “Charly and Joseph are once again plagued by misfortune: the bloody coin is gone again! Once more, the two unlikely crooks find themselves on the run, this time through Bangkok and Vienna. Will they manage to protect their families, find the coin, and survive?” reads the official synopsis.

Kren will continue to serve as the showrunner and creative lead of Season 2. The screenplay for the new season was written by Kren, Georg Lippert, and Benjamin Hessler, who were also responsible for the writing duties on the first season.

“Charly lives a peaceful life with his family in Berlin, until his dark past catches up with him. Old ‘acquaintances’ threaten his family’s life and force him to work a heist of a valuable coin. Joseph, a clan driver from Vienna, is supposed to take the loot to Austria,” reads the show’s first season’s official synopsis. “But the well-thought-out plan fails, a shoot-out ensues, and someone dies. Inevitably, the fates of Charly and Joseph collide. They must flee and get Charly’s family out of danger. During the attempt to save what is important to them, the two crooks must assert themselves against the clans from Berlin, Vienna, and Marseille. Both can only succeed if they rely on their friendship. An adventurous and action-packed road trip across three national borders begins.”
