As shoppers scour for deals during Amazon Prime Day, many have discovered a rather interesting feature on the online retailer’s website.
On Monday, Threads user Megan Montgomery posted a screenshot of the “About You” section of her Amazon account, writing “I stumbled upon a page of assumptions that Amazon has made about me based on my purchases and I’m literally speechless”.
The rundown features mostly unremarkable statements like “Owns a Kindle Paperwhite”, “Shops from women’s departments”, and “Hosts themed celebrations.”
But Montgomery circled one hilarious assumption: “Has flat buttocks.”

It’s easy for Amazon users to find their own personal customer assessments.
From the homepage, you can hover over your name, select “Your Shopping preferences” and then click on “About You”. You can also hover over your name, click “Account” and then go to “About You”.
Unveiled in May of this year, Amazon’s “About You” section uses AI to infer personal details and preferences “through information including your conversations with Alexa for Shopping, product reviews you’ve authored, your purchase history, items you’ve saved to Lists, and your searches,” according to the company’s corporate news site.
Following Montgomery’s viral post, others started joining in with screenshots of their own pages, which range from terrifyingly accurate to hilariously random to downright rude.
While it appears you cannot fully disable the feature, customers can manually update their own pages (which some have undoubtedly used over the past couple of days to join in the screenshot hilarity). But it doesn’t get much funnier than the random details Amazon’s AI tools have produced.
