With Peacemaker Season 2 having officially commenced its run, a lot of fans have questioned the presence of David Corenswet‘s Superman in the series now that it has been confirmed that the two entities co-exist in the same universe. In accordance, Jennifer Holland and Frank Grillo, who play Emilia Harcourt and Rick Flag Sr. in the John Cena-led series, respectively, have come out to explain why the Man of Steel hasn’t made an appearance on the show as of yet, all the while teasing some cameos from the latest DCU film.
Jennifer Holland details why Superman hasn’t appeared in Peacemaker Season 2
During an interview with Fortress of Solitude, Holland theorized that Superman has yet to feature in the ongoing Peacemaker Season 2, as he must have other matters to tend to.
“I think that the first thing you have to let go of when you’re watching superhero films that have a wider connective tissue is: Why didn’t they just call this person? Why didn’t they just call that person? You have to accept that everybody’s busy doing their own thing, and that each individual group of ‘superheroes,’ or the factions that exist, like A.R.G.U.S., have their own missions that they have to attend to,” the actress explained.
She then provided real-world examples to further explain her point about why Superman hasn’t appeared in Peacemaker Season 2, noting, “It’s kind of the same way that the CIA doesn’t always call the FBI. They have their own divisions that they work on. That’s just my opinion. We can’t always pay for the people to do their cameos, and that’s just the way it is.”
Frank Grillo teases Superman cameos in final three episodes of Peacemaker Season 2
On the other hand, Frank Grillo seemed to have a more optimistic perspective regarding Superman’s whereabouts.
Acknowledging the conflict between Kal-El and his character, as showcased in the 2025 reboot movie, Grillo noted, “I do think there’s certainly bad blood between Rick Flag and Superman. But I also agree they’re not always available to show up when they’re needed. But saying that… I don’t think you’ve seen more than five episodes? So, we can’t really say anything.”
While Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardner and Isabela Merced’s Hawkgirl have already made a cameo in Peacemaker Season 2, it remains unclear if more characters from the Superman film will follow suit. The ongoing sequel has premiered its first episode, with the second set to come out later tonight.
