The Carolina Panthers have fortified their roster with a significant infusion of veteran talent ahead of Sunday’s matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. Right tackle Taylor Moton, defensive tackle Tershawn Wharton, and running back Trevor Etienne were all activated to the 53-man roster on Saturday, marking a major turning point for the 2-2 team entering a pivotal Week 6 road game.
Moton returns from the non-football injury (NFI) list to make his 2026 debut after a life-threatening medical emergency. The veteran tackle has been sidelined since late June when a pulmonary embolism was discovered. His return coincides with rookie Monroe Freeling, who started the first four games in Moton’s absence, being ruled inactive for Sunday’s game due to a knee injury.

Defensive and Backfield Reinforcements
The Panthers also activated Tershawn Wharton from the reserve/physically unable to perform (PUP) list. Wharton is making his season debut following neck surgery in May. His presence is expected to provide a veteran anchor for the defensive front as they prepare to face an Eagles offense missing its primary starter.
In the backfield, Trevor Etienne has been activated from injured reserve (IR). To ensure depth, the Panthers also elevated running back Anthony Tyus III and cornerback Robert Rochell from the practice squad on Saturday.
The Week 6 contest has become a battle of depth for both organizations. While Carolina welcomes back three core contributors, the Eagles are adjusting to the loss of quarterback Jalen Hurts, who was placed on injured reserve Saturday after being diagnosed with a calf clot. Backup Tanner McKee is expected to start for Philadelphia, making the return of Wharton and the veteran defensive presence even more tactically significant for Carolina.
