Olivia Wilde spoke candidly about stepping into a dominatrix role during the Los Angeles premiere of I Want Your Sex on July 28, held at the DGA Theater Complex.

During an interview with Variety at the premiere, Wilde spoke about her role and said, “I was just so excited by the fearlessness of it. It was incredible, so liberating, so fun,” she said.

When the interviewer asked if she “felt powerful” walking onto the set in one of the outfits, the 42-year-old revealed that Madonna’s stylist, Arianne Phillips, designed her wardrobe. “I am very grateful she came on to this movie because she created Erika. I mean, those outfits were unbelievable. We had 30 changes or more, and every single one, I felt so powerful. I mean, it was the least amount of clothing I’ve worn on a set, but the most powerful [I’ve felt],” shared the filmmaker.

Olivia Wilde previously opened up about her upcoming dominatrix role during The Run-Through with Vogue podcast. The film, releasing in the United States on July 31, 2026, was written by longtime Vogue sex columnist Karley Sciortino. At the heart of the plot is a provocative May-December romance. Wilde plays Erika Tracy, who dates her much younger assistant Elliot, portrayed by Cooper Hoffman.

When asked whether she pulled from her own life for the part, the Tron: Legacy actress said, “I think that experiencing the double standards firsthand has been fascinating from an anthropological standpoint. And it is so much more egregious than I think I ever really thought. People have such a double standard about what we allow women to do in this world when it comes to romance.”
