Obsession: Curry Barker Reveals What Really Happened to Nikki After That Ending

As Obsession continues to draw attention, director Curry Barker revealed what happens to the film’s central character, Nikki, after the ending. In a recent interview, he suggested a grim fate for her after the harrowing events she experienced during the course of the movie.

The 26-year-old filmmaker recently shared that the protagonist, Nikki, will tragically continue to suffer for the rest of her life. As fans know, Obsession ends with her traumatized by the carnage that unfolded while she was under the influence of the One Wish Willow.

While interacting with CinemaBlend, Curry Barker said, “She probably goes to jail. She’s probably going to prison for a very long time.” He added that Nikki would also be linked to the billion dollars in the deceased Ian’s house. Wondering about the story that the police will piece together about her, the Milk director noted that she will not “have a very good life.” He added, “I don’t think. It’s very sad.”

However, it’s currently unclear whether a follow-up addressing Nikki’s fate after the events of Obsession will happen. While Barker entertained the possibility of a sequel, he said that it would not revolve around the same characters. This makes sense, given that most of them, including Bear, Ian, and Sarah, die by the end.

“I don’t think you’ll ever see a movie with these characters again,” Curry Barker told Variety. “But it would be cool to expand this world with different characters.”

Meanwhile, Inde Navarrette, who plays Nikki in the film, told Forbes last month that Barker’s next film, Anything But Ghosts—which takes place in the same universe—will include an easter egg referencing it. She shared, “In the background [of a scene] on the news, there’s a girl being charged with three counts of homicide, so that’s kind of the direction.” Notably, the upcoming feature will feature Barker as well as Cooper Tomlinson, who plays Ian in Obsession. It also includes Aaron Paul, Bryce Dallas Howard, Violet McGraw, and Chris Reinacher.

Meanwhile, Obsession is currently playing in theaters. In addition to Navarrette and Tomlinson, the film features Michael Johnston, Megan Lawless, Andy Richter, and Haley Fitzgerald, among others.
