The guitar Noel Gallagher used when writing Oasis‘ second album, ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?’, is going up for auction.
The musician’s signed Epiphone EJ-200 acoustic guitar is being sold via Sotheby’s, along with a handwritten lyric sheet for ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’, and a Rickenbacker 12-string model used by Gallagher for a decade.

The guitar is accompanied by a letter of authenticity, confirming that it was used throughout the making of the seminal 1995 album.
Craig Inciardi, Sotheby’s New York-based pop culture specialist, said the model was “typical of what [Gallagher] plays to this day”.
“It was quite extraordinary how they managed to record it in such a fast period of time,” he said of ‘…Morning Glory’ being made in just 15 days (via The Guardian).
“[Gallagher] was just so prolific at the time … with the amount of songs that were coming out of him, it’s almost unprecedented. And if you look at that album and you look at the track listing, it looks like a greatest hits album.”
Gallagher ended up giving the guitar to a roadie, and it was bought from them by the person selling it. “He is a huge Oasis fan,” Inciardi explained. “He was in the social circles of people who were around the band at the time.”
He described the instrument as a “holy grail” for fans: “These are functional objects that have become so sought after and the value of musical instruments that have this sort of historic provenance has significantly increased over time.”
Oasis second record features numerous classics such as ‘Wonderwall’, ‘Champagne Supernova’, ‘Some Might Say’ and ‘She’s Electric’.
It sold 350,000 copies in its first week, and has since shifted over 22million copies worldwide – making it one of the top 50 albums ever. ‘…Morning Glory’ spent 10 weeks at Number One in the UK. The LP also earned Oasis a BRIT Award for Best British Album in 1996.
Oasis released a 30th anniversary reissue of ‘…Morning Glory’ last year, featuring five unplugged versions of their hit songs. They also marked three decades of ‘Wonderwall’ by sharing a limited edition 7” singles box set.
The Britpop giants performed several cuts from their second album on their huge Live ’25 reunion tour last year.
In 2025, a guitar that Liam Gallagher reportedly smashed on the night of Oasis‘s split went to auction. The instrument had previously been sold at auction for £325,000. Noel’s Epiphone Les Paul from the ‘Definitely Maybe’ era also went under the hammer in 2024.
Meanwhile, Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight recently shared more details about his new Oasis documentary. He confirmed that the “phenomenal” project – which follows the Gallaghers’ return to the stage – was currently four hours long.
Noel had previously discussed the doc, saying: “I’ve only seen a tiny little bit of it and it’s difficult to have an opinion on it because I’m only looking at little snippets.
“Everyone who has seen it, or seen more of it than I have, has said that it’s amazing. If it even captures five per cent of what that tour was, it’ll be astonishing. Looking forward to it.”
He explained: “The gigs were amazing, particularly the ones in Manchester, and I’m kind of lost for words for it, really. The gigs spoke for themselves.”
Earlier this year, Noel revealed he was back in the recording studio. However, it is currently not known whether this was for new Oasis music or something else. The musician had said earlier that he was “back at work” following his Christmas break.
In other news, Noel said last month that Liam was on “spectacular form” as the brothers watched Manchester City win the Carabao Cup together at Wembley Stadium.
