2016 was a pretty amazing year for video games, with several critically acclaimed indies and triple-A titles launching that year. Influential games that went on to define their genres, like Stardew Valley, Dark Souls 3, The Division, and Overwatch, launched in 2016, alongside games that, while perhaps not genre-defining, were nevertheless incredible experiences that are beloved now.
