Unlike typical “earn” accounts that resemble savings products, mXRP is a transferable ERC-20 token issued on the XRP Ledger’s EVM sidechain. That makes it composable across DeFi platforms.

The design allows holders to earn a base yield of 6–8%, with returns paid directly in XRP. Additional rewards are possible if mXRP is deployed across lending pools, liquidity venues, or other yield-generating platforms connected by Axelar.

One distinctive feature is the feedback loop built into the model. Yield collected by the strategies — curated initially by Hyperithm — is recycled back into XRP purchases, which are then distributed to holders.

Axelar co-founder Georgios Vlachos calls this structure a “perpetual buyer” mechanism that could inject sustained demand into the XRP market. If assets under management hit $10 billion by 2026, a 7% yield alone would translate into $700 million of yearly XRP buying pressure.

The timing is notable. Other players including Flare, MoreMarkets, Bitrue, and Doppler have begun offering XRP yield products, but their accounts lack composability and remain locked within platforms. Midas argues that mXRP’s portability sets it apart and could kickstart a new phase of DeFi activity on XRPL, where lending yields today sit well below 1%. Post-launch, protocols like Strobe Finance could see liquidity incentives rise above 5%.

The project arrives amid a broader conversation about stable yield in crypto. Midas already oversees more than $1.2 billion across tokenized assets, and its latest entry aims to prove that structured yield products can both serve investors and reinforce the base asset itself. Access, however, will be restricted in the U.S., U.K., and sanctioned jurisdictions.
