Video game adaptations have entered a new era, but Street Fighter remains one of the most difficult franchises to translate into live-action. The games are packed with larger-than-life personalities, gravity-defying attacks, and fighters capable of launching themselves across the screen with moves that could never be mistaken for ordinary martial arts. Any new movie has to embrace that absurdity without turning the characters into little more than costumes and catchphrases.
