New chapter for EastEnders’ Zack as he lands unexpected role after job axe

There’s a new chapter on the horizon for EastEnders’ Zack Hudson (James Farrar) next week when he lands a new job. 

The chef recently found himself unemployed after Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) was forced to close Walford East, where Zack worked in the kitchen, due to an unpaid tax bill. 

We then saw Zack enquire about work on the market after Honey Mitchell (Emma Barton) stepped down from her role as the market inspector. 

But Zack is given a lifeline in forthcoming scenes when he’s offered the chance to return to a previous job.

Fans of the BBC soap will remember that after Zack first joined EastEnders in 2021, he started working at The Vic, amid his romance with Nancy Carter (Maddy Hill).

And while the Carters’ era as owners of the boozer is now over, new landlord Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) offers Zack the job back next week. 

Worried about how he will support his and Whitney Dean’s (Shona McGarty) young daughter Dolly without his income from Walford East, Zack will likely jump at the chance to get back in The Vic’s kitchen. 

It’s been a tumultuous few months for Zack, who, after finding out that Barney Mitchell (Lewis Bridgeman) is his son, was violently attacked by his mum Nicola Mitchell (Laura Doddington) and nearly killed in a car accident after being kidnapped by Harry Mitchell (Elijah Holloway). 

Actor James Farrar, who plays Zack, recently described the huge stunt – which saw his character feared dead after the car plunged into a lake – as being ‘up there with the best moments in my acting career’. 

‘It was epic, and I still watch it to this day – and the doof doof was one of my favourites ever!’ he recently told Digital Spy. 

Zack’s return to The Vic also coincides with Michelle Ryan’s comeback as Zoe Slater – and given the history between Zoe and Zack’s sister Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean), something tells us there’s some explosive scenes ahead…
