Netflix's three-season fantasy TV series is an excellent blend of high-fantasy stories like The Lord of the Rings and animated video game adaptations like Arcane. Of course, these are two pretty different projects, though both have been extremely popular across the board. J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings is the grandfather of high fantasy, establishing the genre's standard structure and inspiring hundreds of other fantastic works. Arcane, on the other hand, was Netflix's proof that it could produce truly exceptional animated adaptations based on popular video games.
