Netflix Renews Divisive TV Show for Season 2, First Poster Released

Netflix is bringing one of its reality series back for another season after its first installment drew strong reactions from viewers. The series, which recently released its first poster, will return with its confinement-based format and a new group of contestants.

The renewal of Lock Upp Season 2 was announced by Monika Shergill, Vice President of Content at Netflix India, during FICCI Frames 2026. The first poster for the new season was also released.

“Laut raha hain Lock Upp. Bhaag kar jaaoge kahaan? ?? Watch Lock Upp Season 2, coming soon, only on Netflix!” the caption read.

The latest announcement confirms that Riteish Deshmukh and Farah Khan will return as hosts. Shergill confirmed the hosting duo’s return by saying, “We are not letting our jailors go on leave.”

What is Netflix’s Lock Upp show about?

Created by Ekta Kapoor, Lock Upp places celebrities and public figures inside a simulated jail where they live together while competing in a series of challenges. Contestants are separated from their normal lives and must deal with restrictions, group conflicts, and elimination.

The reality show uses its prison setting as part of the competition. Contestants participate in tasks to earn basic necessities and advantages while trying to avoid elimination.

The format also includes interrogation segments in which contestants are asked questions about their personal lives, past controversies, and relationships. The discussions can reveal information about the participants while adding another element to the competition.

Contestants must also maintain viewers’ support to remain in the game. Those who fail to secure immunity or sufficient public support can face elimination as the season progresses.

The original series featured public figures competing in a prison setting while navigating the format’s restrictions. The competition ultimately leads to a winner who receives a cash prize.

With Season 2 now confirmed, Lock Upp will return with Deshmukh and Khan continuing as its hosts. 

Netflix has not yet announced the complete contestant lineup or the production and premiere dates for the upcoming season.
