More ‘Lord Of The Rings’ classic games are being re-released

More classic The Lord Of The Rings games have been confirmed for modern consoles following the surprise remaster of War In The North earlier this year.

The Lord Of The Rings: War In The North was originally released back in 2011 and last month, the remastered Legacy edition was made available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2 consoles. 

At the time Aspyr, who own the rights to the Lord Of The Rings franchise, promised “more classic releases” were planned. Now, they’ve announced that 2014’s open-world adventure game Middle-earth: Shadow Of Mordor and 2017 sequel Shadow Of War are being re-released on the Nintendo Switch 2.

The Middle-earth: Shadow Bundle is available to pre-order now for £31.49 (usual price £62.99) ahead of a launch later this week (September 30). The bundle includes the Game Of The Year Edition of Middle-earth: Shadow Of Mordor, featuring bonus missions and skins, and the Definitive Edition of Shadow Of War.  Both games are already available to purchase on Xbox and PlayStation’s digital store.

As well as working on bringing the back catalogue of classic Lord Of The Rings titles to modern consoles Aspyr are also working on a brand new game set in Middle-earth.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance studio Warhorse are currently heading up production on the untitled Lord Of The Rings game. They’ve confirmed it will be an “open-world role-playing game” but more details will be shared when the time is right. Warhorse are also working on a new Kingdom Come title, that’ll be released within the next 18 months. 

In other news, a new The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt expansion is due to launch next year and the team at game developers CD Projekt Red have shared the first taste of the DLC’s music.
