The upcoming season is reported to feature a narrative time jump of approximately six to nine months. According to reporting from TVLine, this gap allows the series to skip the immediate legal fallout of the “Matty Matlock” finale and pick up with the characters in a transformed professional landscape. The finale saw the dramatic arrests of Howard “Senior” Markston and Julian Markston for their roles in the Wellbrexa cover-up, effectively dismantling the power structure at the Jacobson Moore law firm.

With the primary antagonists of the first two seasons facing legal consequences and the central quest for justice for Matty’s daughter concluded, Season 3 must establish a new foundational conflict. The planned time jump and the shift in episode count suggest a season dedicated to rebuilding the show’s world around its remaining leads as they move into a post-Wellbrexa era.
