Mark Wahlberg’s latest R-rated comedy Balls Up has landed on Prime Video to a muted critical response, with reviewers divided over the film’s crude humour and execution. Peter Farrelly’s latest comedy Balls Up has landed on Prime Video with a 42% Tomatometer rating from 12 critic reviews.

The raunchy feature stars Mark Wahlberg and Paul Walter Hauser as marketing executives Brad and Elijah, who pitch a full-coverage condom sponsorship with the World Cup. Amazon MGM Studios released the R-rated film on April 15, 2026, with a runtime of 1 hour 44 minutes.

Frank Scheck of The Hollywood Reporter wrote that the film “could really have used the manic energy of a Jack Black or Jim Carrey.” Matt Zoller Seitz of RogerEbert.com stated, “Wahlberg should not be cast in any role predicated on the idea that he’s good with words and ideas.” Jacob Oller of AV Club gave the film a D+ and wrote, “Man cannot live on dick jokes alone.” Brian Orndorf of Blu-ray.com awarded a D grade, writing that “Balls Up reeks of desperation.”

Andrew Lawrence of the Guardian gave the film 3/5, calling it “juvenile entertainment, handled by professionals.” Guy Lodge of Variety described it as “a down-the-middle streaming comedy.” Jonathon Wilson of Ready Steady Cut awarded 3/5, writing it is “designed to be a totally uncomplicated and laid-back good time.” Charles Koplinski of Reel Talk with Chuck and Pam gave 3/4 and admitted laughing at jokes involving “a urethra-invading fish.”

Juan Pablo Russo of EscribiendoCine scored the film 1/10, stating “Football is reduced to an excuse, Brazil to a caricature, and comedy to a series of failed attempts.” Casey Chong of Fortress of Solitude called it “a mostly unfunny comedy.” Mark Dujsik of Mark Reviews Movies rated it 1.5/4. Diego Batlle of Otroscines.com gave 3/5.
