Madonna is lifting the lid on everything that went into bringing her show-stopping performance at this year’s VMAs to life.
And from the looks of things, the Queen of Pop runs a pretty tight ship.
Towards the end of last month, Madonna opened the show at the MTV Video Music Awards with a medley of songs from her chart-topping album Confessions II, featuring guest appearances from Sabrina Carpenter, Charli XCX and a host of blink-and-you’ll-miss-’em celeb cameos.

The footage also featured clips of both Sabrina and Charli in rehearsals, as well as Madonna pulling no punches when it came to elements of the routine that she didn’t feel were working.

As well as opening the show with a performance, Madonna was also the big winner at the 2026 VMAs.
She went into the night as the top nominee of the year, eventually taking home seven of the 13 prizes she was up for, including Artist Of The Year, Best Album for her latest release Confessions II and Best Collaboration for the Sabrina Carpenter duet Bring Your Love.
Madonna is on a huge roll right now, following the mammoth success of her Confessions II album, which topped the charts on both sides of the Atlantic and received some of the best reviews of her 40-year career upon its release over the summer.
Speculation has now turned to whether a tour in support of the album could be on the horizon, with rumours in the tabloid press suggesting that she’s gearing up for a string of shows in London’s Hyde Park next year.
