Nobody panic: Danny Trejo is still very much alive despite fellow actor John Leguizamo sharing a hoax death announcement which has circulated online over the weekend.

Convict-turned-movie-star Danny, 81, was forced to shut down these horrific death rumours, which were even given airtime by Spawn star John.

‘Thank you all for your concern but I am very much alive. Someone is spreading fake news,’ the Machete, Spy Kids and From Dusk Till Dawn star wrote on social media.

This comes after TMZ reported John had shared the death hoax on his own Instagram story to his 1.8million followers, writing over it ‘R.I.P’.

Fans were understandably worried, as Predators actor Danny and John are known to one another, with the former following the latter on social media.

This comes 22 years after they collaborated on an episode of the 65-year-old Emmy winner’s Nickelodeon sitcom, The Brothers García.

Just last month the pair were linked once more when they were honoured at the 10th Imagen Awards in Beverly Hills with respective awards.

Danny won best variety/reality show for his History Channel series Mysteries Unearthed.

Meanwhile Leguizamo – who was absent from the evening- won best actor for Bob Trevino Likes It.

Danny has been actively in the public eye recently, having performed in Los Angeles at the Regent Theatre on August 30, for which he also hosted a meet and greet.

He also recently took part in a 15th anniversary screening of Machete in LA, for which he was interviewed.

Danny previously said he was ‘never meant’ to make it past the 1960s, but celebrated 57 years of sobriety recently after his early years were spent in and out of prison for armed robbery and drug offences

‘That was a tough time for me, and nobody thought I was going to make it out of there. Now, I’ve been on the good Lord’s time,’ he told People.

‘Anytime somebody asks me did I ever imagine, I never imagined getting out of prison. The last thing I heard the parole board say in 1969 was, “Bring us back a life sentence. We’re sick and tired of you.”

‘I never went back. I mean, every day, every day for me is just a blessing.’

‘My first 25 years were full of secrets, shame, violence, crime, drugs – I had an uncle who turned me onto grass. I had a fix of heroin when I was 12. When I talk to psychiatrists about this, that was abuse. I thought it was sharing,’ he reflected on an episode of Mayim Bialik’s Breakdown last year.

‘But if an older sibling in your family is smoking weed, he’s not turning the younger siblings on to it to be mean or vicious. He is doing what he does. He didn’t so it viciously, I was there, and they went, “Let’s get him loaded.”‘

‘I remember when my uncle tried to make amends to me before he died. I said, “Shut up man, if you hadn’t turned me onto grass I’d have probably been a Republican or something worse.”

‘I don’t know what would have happened. But everything that happened to me was because it was meant to happen.’

As well as appearing in close to 500 films and TV shows throughout his long career, Danny has opened a number of successful taco restaurants throughout the world.

The first Trejo’s Tacos restaurant opened in LA nine years ago and he brought it to London last year, marking the first overseas venture.
