One of Coronation Street’s most iconic families reunited away from the cobbles last weekend, but there was one major player missing from the family photo.
Platt family matriarch Gail Platt may have left the cobbles, but actress Helen Worth is still a big part of her co-stars’ lives.
Actors Jack P Shepherd, Lucy Fallon, Tina O’Brien and Julia Goulding joined Helen backstage at Manchester’s Hope Mill Theatre ahead of her one-off show, An Evening with Helen Worth.
The event was hosted by a fellow Corrie alumna, Hayley Cropper star Julie Hesmondhalgh.
Taking to Instagram, Bethany Platt star Lucy shared a picture of the on-screen family, and referenced the absence of Nick Tilsley actor Ben Price, explaining why he wasn’t included.
‘My Platts – minus our Ben who was stuck on the motorway,’ she wrote in the caption.
The post received a lot of love from friends and fans in the comments, with Hollyoaks star Jorgie Porter writing: ‘Obsessed.’
‘LOVE ITTTTT,’ Sam Blakeman star Jude Riordan enthused, while Corriedale director Duncan Foster wrote: ‘The lovely “Platts” so many memories…’
‘Gutting Ben missed out would have been perfect but love the photos,’ a fan added, while another said: ‘Best Family in Coronation Street.’
Gail, as viewers will recall, left Weatherfield after 50 years just over a year ago, receiving a happy ending – a rarity in soap – as she jetted off to the south of France with new husband Jesse Chadwick (John Thomson) for a fresh start.
Her final scenes saw her leave the eponymous street with her new beau following heartfelt moments with son David Platt, mum Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) and even a brief conversation with the ghost of killer Richard Hillman (Brian Capron)!
A year later, she staged a brief return at Christmas, with a video message for her loved ones.
