A couple of days after the Love Island USA Season 7 reunion aired on Peacock, Amaya “Papaya” Espinal and Bryan Arenales officially broke up. This comes one month after the couple won Love Island season 7 and split a $100,000 grand prize.
Reason for Amaya and Bryan Arenales’ breakup on Love Island USA explained
While speculation about a breakup existed before, Amaya confirmed the split in an Instagram Story post. She shared it on Wednesday, August 27, 2025. She addressed her followers in the story, saying, “My Papayas—Bryan and I are no longer together. After leaving the villa, it became very clear that we were on two different journeys,” referring to life outside the villa.
She continued, “Our visions didn’t align and relationships are supposed to be a team sport. You don’t have to drink the whole sea to know it’s salty. All love here and I truly wish him the best,” adding an idiom to drive home her point, something she does quite often.
This announcement came two days after the pre-taped reunion, where the couple addressed cheating rumors. Rumors about Bryan cheating surfaced when he was seen in a public appearance at a nightclub.
During the reunion, Bryan said, “They’re trying to just throw any hate my way…And with the cheating video, the hosting, I got paid to be there, I used to bartend back in the day, I had a lapse in judgment, we’ve talked about it.” Amaya added, “We definitely spoke about it. I’m also not a woman who would be with someone who doesn’t respect me. So if I’m still with him, it’s because the relationship dynamic is healthy and great.”
Either way, this did not work out, irrespective of the cheating rumors. The couple has officially split. The only reason Amaya provided was that they were going their separate ways after life in the villa.
There may be more details about this split in the future.
