Disney had plenty of big office smashes in 2025 with several Marvel movies, more animated hits, and live-action reimaginings of some all-time animated classics. One of the biggest financial success stories to emerge was the live-action Lilo & Stitch movie, which premiered in theaters on May 23 last year. Disney sunk a $100 million investment in the live-action version of Lilo & Stitch, which proved to be smart when the film grossed over $1 billion at the global box office. It was the first movie of the year to reach this number, but it was later surpassed by Zootopia 2, which is now one of the highest-grossing movies of all time. Disney announced last year that it was moving forward with a live-action Lilo & Stitch sequel. This wasn’t surprising, considering the film did so well in theaters.
