While Lena Dunham has repeatedly cast doubt on a TV reboot of her hit show Girls, that doesn’t mean she’s ruled out a different sort of reunion for its cast.

Speaking to Andy Cohen on SiriusXM, the Bafta winner revealed she has an idea in mind for a Girls film.

“I would love to do it, and I have to say, I got a little plot line in my brain,” she shared, saying she’d be “delighted” to make the project happen.

Lena explained that it would be “impossible” for her “not to think about where” the characters she created are now, teasing it’s something she and former co-stars often ponder in their group chat.

“I have a new chain with the girls and Andrew [Rannells] called Survivors Of The Crackcident,” she quipped. “Jemima [Kirke] will pop in with the best take on like, ‘Jess is really into RFK Jr’, and you’re like, ‘Of course she is. Of course she is, she does not want anyone getting vaccines, she is pissed’.”

However, we could be in for a bit more of a wait before Lena puts pen to paper on a Girls movie script.

“I think it’s an obvious thing [but] we don’t want to come back to the party too early,” she added. “We want to be appropriately missed.”

After Girls came to an end in 2017, Lena has gone on to appear in shows like American Horror Story and the Quentin Tarantino film Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.

She has also directed the very first episode of Industry, created the comedy Camping and executive produced Genera+ion, as well as showrunning the Netflix rom-com Too Much, in which she had a supporting role opposite Megan Stalter and Will Sharpe.

Last year, she made headlines when she claimed that she’d be keen to revisit Girls, but only once she and her co-stars are in their 60s.

“Part of the goal of the show was always to lean into what was unexpected, so we want to be unexpected if we come together again,” she noted.
