Kit stuns Lisa with Coronation Street cancer revelation but how will she react?

DS Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers) has a talent for sniffing out secrets on Coronation Street, and the biggest secret is right under her nose.

That is secret is being hidden by her colleague, Cobbles copper Kit Green (Jacob Roberts), who is still reeling from a devastating breast cancer diagnosis after discovering that his whole family carries the BRACA gene.

Having been privately tested, Kit’s already met with his consultant in hospital, who laid out the plan for his surgery and treatment. This came with a strong recommendation for Kit to tell his family about his diagnosis.

Which, of course, he didn’t do. At least at first.

Aside from fearing for himself, Kit’s been scared for other members of his family who may also be at risk from the disease, such as his mum Bernie Winter-Alahan (Jane Hazlegrove).

However, while Bernie was getting checked out at the hospital, she was treated by a nurse called Paul, who reminded her of her late son Paul, who died after being diagnosed with MND. Taking it as a sign from the universe, Bernie gained comfort from her spiritual side and her connection with her deceased son – which only irritated Kit.

Cue a massive fight where Bernie accused Kit of being negative until he finally exploded and revealed his cancer diagnosis. Needless to say, Bernie was crushed and fell apart in the arms of her partner, Dev (Jimmi Harkishin).

Seeing how distraught his mother was obviously won’t make Kit keen to share his news with anyone else close to him.

But he may not have a choice… which brings us to Lisa.

DS Connor Swain has historically clashed with Kit, due to her colleague’s worrying habit of bending the law to protect his loved ones and punish his enemies.

We’ve already seen Lisa start to smell a rat due to Kit’s reckless behaviour during the murder investigation ofLuke Cookson’s murderer. After Kit snapped at her, Lisa shared her worries with Bernie, but got no answers.

The Weatherfield sleuth’s worries were only confounded after she was forced to intervene when Kit got the red mist and lost his rag with a suspect. She still had no idea what was eating Kit. All she could do is warn him that whatever his problem is, it could lose his job if he doesn’t sort himself out.

Now Lisa finally discovers Kit’s diagnosis in upcoming episodes of Coronation Street. But how will she react?

Lisa’s not happy when DC McLaughlin(Michelle Tate) informs her that Kit called in sick for the third time this week. But she’s distracted by a report that there’s been a shooting on Coronation Street and hurries out.

In the hospital chemotherapy room, the nurse talks Kit through the side effects of his treatment and urges him to speak to his boss as he won’t be fit for work.

Kit calls at the station to find Lisa furiously typing up her notes. She angrily confronts him for for failing to answer his calls… until Kit drops the bombshell that he’s got cancer. Lisa’s stunned.

There’s not been a lot of silver linings in this story so far, so brace yourselves. Lisa is understanding and supporting, promising that Kit and the force will support him any way that they can.

Now that’s a twist! What next? Don’t tell me they will actually become proper friends…
