Katy Perry is being investigated by Victoria Police after actress Ruby Rose’s sexual assault allegations.

Australian actress Rose alleged that the pop star assaulted her while at a nightclub in Australia in 2010.

The 40-year-old Orange Is the New Black star says the incident occurred when she was in her twenties.

Perry has denied the allegations through her representative, and now police have begun investigating the incident after Rose filed a complaint.

‘Melbourne Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team (SOCIT) detectives are investigating a historical sexual assault that occurred in Melbourne in 2010,’ a Victoria Police spokesperson said on Wednesday.

‘Police have been told the incident occurred at a licensed premises in Melbourne’s CBD.

‘As the investigation remains ongoing, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage.’

Rose has since made a post on Threads saying she can no longer talk about the incident while the police investigate her claims.

‘Last update on this: As of this afternoon, I have finalized all of my reports,’ she wrote on Tuesday.

‘This means I am no longer able to comment, repost, or talk publicly about any of those cases, or the individuals involved.

‘It’s going to look like I am ignoring everything from supportive messages, to other people’s experiences, but I’m not.

‘This is a standard request from the police and in many ways, quite the relief. I can start the healing process now. And temporary [sic] move forward. I love you all so much.’

Perry, now 41, is accused of ‘rubbing her vagina on [Rose’s] face’ in a now deleted post. After a reluctance to speak publicly for two decades, Rose filed a police report on April 13, 2026.

A representative for Perry later told Metro: ‘The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous reckless lies.

‘Ms. Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named.’

Perry’s official statement follows a source’s claims that she was taken aback by Rose’s allegations, telling The Sun today that the celebrities have ‘a complicated backstory’ and have ‘never really been friends’, but the latest development came ‘as a massive shock to everyone’.

Rose first made her claims in an Instagram comment responding to Perry’s verdict on Justin Bieber’s headline Coachella set on Saturday night.

The Baby hitmaker was criticised for an apparent lack of effort during his show, in which he streamed his own YouTube videos and sang along. Perry had commented on a Complex Music post: ‘Thank God he has [YouTube] Premium. I don’t wanna see no ads.’

Replying, Rose said: ‘Katy Perry assaulted me at spice market nightclub in Melbourne. Who gives a s**t what she thinks.’

Following this, the Pitch Perfect 3 star shared more details of the alleged assault on Threads, further claiming she stayed silent because Perry assisted the Melbourne-born screen star in acquiring a US visa, ‘writing and signing letters of recommendation’ for her application in the 2010s.

‘After it I threw up on her. I told the story publicly but changed it to be a “funny little drunk story” because I didn’t know how else to handle it. Later she agreed to help me get my US visa. So I kept it a secret,’ she wrote.

‘But I DID tell yall she wasn’t a good person. Instead I got attacked by.. everyone.’

A fan replied to Rose, saying they ‘stand with [her]’, to which Rose penned: ‘I was only in my early 20s. I’m now 40. It has taken almost 2 decades to say this publicly.’ ‘Though I am so grateful to have made it long enough to find my voice, it just shows how much of an impact trauma and sexual assault takes. Thank you for seeing me,’ she concluded.

Metro has contacted representatives for Katy Perry for comment.
