Kate Mansi on if She’ll Return After Leaving General Hospital

Kate Mansi, who plays Kristina Corinthos, revealed whether she’ll return to General Hospital in the future. She’s departing the show to focus on other projects and gain more flexibility in her schedule. On the storyline front, Mansi’s Kristina, whom she has portrayed since 2023, is leaving Port Charles for medical school.

In a conversation with TV Insider, Mansi revealed that it was a difficult decision to make while reflecting on how she loved playing the character. The actress also mentioned how she liked working with the family she created on set while appreciating executive producer Frank Valentini for providing her with an “incredible” experience. Mansi added that she was aware that her contract was concluding in April. Therefore, she gave notice beforehand so that the makers could plan the future premises accordingly.

Sharing who she reached out to first to tell her decision, Kate Mansi said, “The truth is, I was afraid to tell people and feel sad talking about it. And then, Nancy [Lee Grahn, Alexis Davis], Kristen [Vaganos, Molly Lansing], and Rory [Gibson, Michael Corinthos] were the first people I told because it directly affected my family, and I wanted to give them a heads up. So, we had time to process it together.”

However, she said that she didn’t tell this news to Maurice Benard, who plays Sonny Corinthos, until the last episode, as they share a very close bond. Telling it to him at the last moment, Mansi admits that it gave them some emotionally packed moments on and off screen.

Moreover, the Kristina actress added that she has a short-term project this fall that fits in her schedule. Furthermore, she also thanked fans for their continued love and support before sharing an update on whether a return in the future is possible. She said with a wink, “It’s Port Charles. Anything is possible.” Notably, Mansi first announced her departure on an Instagram story in May 2026.
