Things are getting a little complicated now. There are four movies in the mainline John Wick franchise, plus one theatrical spin-off. Derek Kolstad has been involved in writing the first three. The movies are co-produced by 87Eleven Entertainment, the firm established by Chad Stahelskiand David Leitch. Kolstad also wrote Nobody and Nobody 2, similarly modeled movies starring Bob Odenkirk, but produced by Leitch's offshoot 87North Productions. Kolstad has a new movie out this week, and although it stars Odenkirk as a middle-aged man pulled into an action-packed conspiracy, it isn't a part of the Nobody series, nor does it have anything to do with either Stahelski or Leitch. The movie is called Normal, and it features Odenkirk as a small-town sheriff who finds himself in a face-off against the Yakuza. The movie combines the R-rated action that fans of the John Wick series have come to admire, with a backdrop straight out of Fargo.
