Thanks to the blockbuster success of Project Hail Mary, star Ryan Gosling's earlier movies are being rediscovered at home. Project Hail Mary has emerged as his biggest hit, grossing more than $510 million worldwide so far against a reported budget of $250 million. Directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the movie opened to near-unanimous praise and currently holds a "Certified Fresh" 94% score on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes. Project Hail Mary is Gosling's latest attempt to cement himself as an A-list movie star, following the big-budget tent poles The Gray Man and The Fall Guy. Previously, the actor was best known for starring in arthouse features, with the odd mainstream studio movie thrown in.
