Marvel and Krysten Ritter finally broke the case on one of Daredevil: Born Again’s most anticipated mysteries ahead of the season 2 finale. The studio and its returning P.I. revealed that Jessica Jones has been busy with more than just investigations since fans last saw her.

Daredevil: Born Again finally debuts Jessica Jones

Krysten Ritter officially reprises her role as Jessica Jones in Daredevil: Born Again season 2, episode 6, “Requiem.” The superhuman private investigator makes her MCU debut six years after Netflix canceled her solo series in 2019. In her first scene, armed men working for CIA operative Mr. Charles attack Jessica at her suburban home.

Notably, the episode also introduces her young daughter, Danielle. In Marvel Comics, Danielle is the child of Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. While the show does not explicitly name Danielle’s father, it strongly hints at Cage’s involvement. Jessica tells Daredevil that Mr. Charles previously contacted her about recruiting superpowered individuals.

She refused, but implies someone close to her did not. Meanwhile, Mike Colter’s return as Luke Cage in season 3 already stands confirmed through set photos leaked in early April. Colter appeared alongside Charlie Cox and Finn Jones on the New York City set.

Is Jessica Jones losing her powers in Daredevil: Born Again?

Jessica reveals that her superhuman abilities have become unreliable since giving birth to Danielle. “After Danielle, it just drops out sometimes, then comes back,” she tells Matt Murdock on a rooftop. “I don’t think there’s an owner’s manual for this s**t, you know?”

This issue becomes evident during a warehouse battle against the AVTF. Jessica’s super strength deactivates mid-fight, leaving her vulnerable to a punch from the unpowered Agent Powell.

As a result, the hit causes her to bleed, which is alarming given her usual durability. However, the show does not yet explain why her powers are flickering after childbirth. This plot thread will likely carry significant weight in future episodes and possibly into season 3.
