January has had a facelift in recent years, thanks mainly to Jason Statham. The month had long been viewed as a dumping ground for movies that studios didn't have much faith in, but in 2024, Statham shattered expectations with The Beekeeper. The action movie, directed byDavid Ayer, grossed more than $160 million worldwide. Statham and Ayer repeated the feat in January 2025 with A Working Man, which grossed nearly $100 million worldwide. Both films received mostly positive critical reactions and have cemented themselves as fan-favorites with 92% and 87% audience scores on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, respectively. Statham will hope to level up with The Beekeeper 2, which recently debuted its first teaser ahead of a January 2027 release. However, there was a blip this year, when Statham's annual January release underperformed theatrically.
