Jason Statham fans have had a roller-coaster of a year in 2026 so far, despite his first action movie of the year opening with some of his best reviews ever. Shelter stars Jason Statham as Mason, a former government assassin who is drawn out of hiding after saving a stranded girl, which triggers a chain event pitting him against a group of lethal executioners. The film narrowly earned back its $50 million budget, grossing only $54 million at the box office, but it still fell well short of what was an estimated break-even point of over $100 million. Statham will seek redemption in just a few weeks with the premiere of his next action movie, Mutiny. The film comes from director Jean François-Richet, who previously delivered the beloved Gerard Butler action movie, Plane.
