Jamie Lee Curtis & Britt Lower Anticipated Thriller Movie Gets Great Update, Release Date Window

Jamie Lee Curtis and Britt Lower‘s much-anticipated thriller movie has recently gotten a positive update. A release date window for the project has also been announced.

According to a recent update from Deadline, Sender has landed a U.S. distribution deal with Dark Sky Films. Such an update dropped just before the movie’s premiere at Los Angeles’ Beyond Fest and European premiere at the 59th Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival. The update also stated that Sender is scheduled to hit theaters in spring 2027.

Directed by Russell Goldman, the project had a strong run during its world premiere in the Narrative Feature Competition at SXSW. Sender also got a Marquee Presentation selection at the San Francisco International Film Festival. Apart from Curtis and Lower, the movie’s cast will also include Rhea Seehorn, Anna Baryshnikov, David Dastmalchian, and Utkarsh Ambudkar.

What is Sender about?

Russell Goldman’s Sender revolves around Julia, who is trying to start her life over after losing a job and quitting drinking. She moves into a new house in the suburbs where she orders several things online. However, the narrative takes a weird turn when packages Julia has never ordered start arriving at her house. What turns out to be even more eerie is the fact that she feels that the sender knows about her past.

When Julia decides to uncover the truth behind this, she discovers that another woman, Lisa Barr, played by Jamie Lee Curtis, is also experiencing the same thing. Such a discovery entangles the mystery even more.

The synopsis of Sender, per IMDb, reads, “After receiving a series of packages containing unnervingly personal items, a woman tumbles down a paranoid rabbit hole to find her mysterious sender.”

Reflecting on the upcoming film, Goldman said, per Deadline, “Sender isn’t the kind of film that fits neatly into a box, which makes it especially meaningful that the entire MPI and Dark Sky team has a real vision for its nationwide theatrical release.”

Jamie Lee Curtis, Molly Hallam, and Jake Katofsky are producing the feature. Director Goldman is the executive producer for the 2026 thriller alongside Thomas Grabinski, Ali Jazayeri, Paris Jones, Stefan Klink, Britt Lower, Andre Ray, Akshay Shah, and Viviana Zarragoitia.
