One of the biggest stories in cinema this past week is the disastrous start to theatrical life for Supergirl. Milly Alcock's Kara Zor-El stars in an adaptation of the Woman of Tomorrow comic storyline, and many expected the film to be a hit following last year's triumphant DCU exploits for David Corenswet's Clark Kent. Alas, following the opening weekend, the second installment of James Gunn and Peter Safran's DC Universe looks set to be one of the biggest underperformers at this year's summer box office, especially at a time when other projects seem to be thriving.
