After a seemingly disappointing box-office debut some weeks ago, the new sci-fi movie The End of Oak Street appears to have regained its footing. This past weekend, the film passed what will likely be its final major milestone at the worldwide box office, unless it shows unexpectedly long legs in the coming days. Directed by David Robert Mitchell, The End of Oak Street reportedly had a difficult post-production and early publicity phase. It wasn't until the reviews came out that news of the movie's ambitious filmmaking spread. Mitchell had never operated at this scale, and The End of Oak Street has yet to hit its projected break-even point. But the movie is in better shape than Warner Bros.' two other underperformers from earlier this year — Mortal Kombat II and Supergirl.
