Is Patrick Wilson in ‘Insidious: Out Of The Further’?

Insidious: Out Of The Further arrives in cinemas this week, but does Patrick Wilson return as Josh Lambert? Find out below.

Written and directed by Jacob Chase, the sixth film in the horror franchise follows Gemma (Amelia Eve), a young mother who discovers that she can travel into the purgatorial realm known as the Further.

Unlike the characters in the previous films, Gemma can also bring the entities that inhabit the Further into the real world, allowing them to target her and her daughter Maya (Island Austin).

The cast also includes Brandon Perea, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Sam Spruell and Laura Gordon, while Lin Shaye reprises her role as psychic medium Elise Rainier.

It is released in cinemas on August 21 and you can check out the trailer here:

NME gave the last entry Insidious: The Red Door four stars in 2023, writing: “The campus setting adds a new dimension – and watching an older Dalton discover his powers all over again feels nostalgic in a fresh way. There’s a focus on family, too. If Vin Diesel ever ditches the Fast & Furious franchise to burn seance candles instead of rubber, it’ll probably look something like this. Wilson makes the step up look simple.”

Is Patrick Wilson in Insidious: Out Of The Further?

No, Wilson does not return for the new film.

The actor played Josh Lambert in the 2010 original and Insidious: Chapter 2, and then returned three years ago to star in and direct The Red Door.

That film was presented as the final chapter of the Lambert family’s story and it ended with Josh and his son Dalton (Ty Simpkins) sealing the Red Door that connected them to the Further and reconciling after years of tension.

Out Of The Further, meanwhile, begins a separate arc centred on Gemma and her story. Lin Shaye’s Elise Rainier is the only returning character, despite that fact that she was killed at the end of the first film.
