Sylvester Stallone’s sizzling dramedy, Tulsa King, has been confirmedfor another round just days before the third season premieres.

The Paramount Plus crime series follows New York mafia capo Dwight “The General” Manfredi (portrayed by Sylvester himself), who must set up a crime syndicate in Tulsa, Oklahoma, after exile.

Already a certified hit for the streamer, the show has been a real draw for audiences scoring 21.1 million viewers for its season two premiere. What’s more, the season as a whole landed an impressive Rotten Tomatoes score.

Not surprising given it was created by Taylor Sheridan – the mastermind behind hit series Yellowstone and its spin-off 1883.

Luckily for Tulsa King fans, it looks like things are only on the up.

The upcoming season, which comes out on September 21, will star another Hollywood legend, Samuel L. Jackson, who will introduce us to Russell Lee Washington in anticipation of his own spin-off show, NOLA King.

Meanwhile, with the fourth season already greenlit, original Terence Winter will be returning to the helm as he takes over from Dave Erikson.

As for what people can expect from the fresh episodes dropping imminently, the synopsis teases that as Dwight’s empire expands, so do his enemies.

It continues: ‘Now, he faces his most dangerous adversaries in Tulsa yet: the Dunmires, a powerful old-money family that doesn’t play by old-world rules, forcing Dwight to fight for everything he’s built and protect his family.’

The series has raked in rave reviews from viewers.

‘It’s got Taylor Sheridan written all over it and that is a GOOD thing. First class production. Very well written, good cinematography and well put together. Capable cast all excel in character and Stallone proves he is staying gold. Entertaining and as retro-gangsta as can be. Hilarious at times,’ RT user Frans B praised.

‘Magnificent blend of violence, humor and commitment to the characters while not taking itself too seriously. It’s deliciously reminiscent of 90s movie tone and sensibilities,’ Tom T echoed.

‘Surprisingly good. Expected it to be cornier, found myself pleasantly surprised to discover an overall engaging, thoroughly entertaining show,’ Sarah S agreed.

Critics were in hard agreement, with the Seattle Times calling it simply ‘irresistible’, Empire Magazine dubbed it ‘a royally good time’.

Slant magazine said the show had ‘been tailor-made for Stallone, playing to his particular brand of mealy-mouthed charisma.’

Speaking to Metro at the red carpet premiere of season three, Sly spoke about what it was like to share the screen with Samuel.

‘There’s a real difference in certain elements with certain actors,’ he told us. ‘We have a lot of great ones, but he’s really special.

‘Waiting for him to step on set, it almost feels like a boxer waiting for a really tough opponent – who’s going to throw the first punch? Is he going to try to steal the scene?’

Tulsa King season 3 premieres on Sunday on Paramount+.
