NetherRealm’s next game looks set to be Injustice 3, after two voice actors confirm their involvement in the sequel.
Ever since James Gunn and Peter Safran took over as the co-CEOs of DC Studios, there’s been a question of how this will impact future DC games.
Given the time it takes to develop games, in comparison to movies, It will likely be a few years before we see the fruits of these changes but Gunn has teased they’re in the ‘early stages of planning’ some ‘bigger things’, while stating ‘a couple of little DC games’ are on the near horizon.
It’s unclear what he’s referring to exactly, or if the recently announced Lego Batman: Legacy Of The Dark Knight is a part of these plans, but one of the worst kept secrets in the company’s line-up might be Injustice 3.
Back in 2023, NetherRealm’s Ed Boon, who served as a director on both Injustice games, previously said the Injustice franchise is not over, while job listings and concept art have all pointed to a third entry being in the works.
If that wasn’t enough, two voice actors have now seemingly confirmed their involvement in a sequel. The first comes via DC fan Brendan Borrow on X, who met Superman voice actor George Newbern at FanExpo Canada this month.
‘I was telling him he’s definitive as the voice for me and how much I loved the game MultiVersus,’ Borrow wrote on X. ‘In response to my MultiVersus comment, he told me he’s currently working on Injustice 3!’

Coincidentally, another fan named DannySoul0 on X claimed they met Phil LaMarr, the voice of Green Lantern John Stewart, who apparently said ‘they’re doing Injustice 3’ after signing their SteelBook for Injustice 2.
John Stewart didn’t properly appear in 2017’s Injustice 2, but he was a DLC skin for the Hal Jordan version of Green Lantern. It’s unclear if Stewart will appear in Injustice 3 (or if they will use Guy Gardner, who appears in James Gunn’s Superman movie), but LaMarr also provided the voice for Aquaman in the fighting game, so he’ll likely return to voice that character at least.
While both of these comments are from second-hand sources, a MultiVersus leaker suggested Injustice 3 is happening earlier this year. Combined with all the previous hints from over the years, these actors may have assumed everybody knew about it already.
The big question is whether a third Injustice game will move away from the grimdark story of the last two, where Superman is evil, or whether it will try to reflect the new DCU.
It would certainly be very surprising if Injustice 3 didn’t feature characters like Mr Terrific and Guy Gardner (and Krypto), who are in the new movie but weren’t in the previous games, but would their personalities match with the film or not?
NetherRealm is coming off the back of Mortal Kombat 1 which, while not a failure with 6.2 million copies sold, certainly didn’t sell as well as its predecessors.
