A one week-old baby was bitten and killed by his family’s dog inside their home in Indiana.

Jason Anthony Weaver was attacked by a husky-pit bull mix on Thursday around 6pm, according to the Huntington County Sheriff’s Office.

Police officers found the infant in critical condition. First responders tried to perform life-saving measures and rushed him to a nearby hospital.

Despite doctors’ efforts, Jason died of ‘multiple blunt force traumatic injuries’, according to the county coroner’s office. His death was ruled an accident.

An obituary for Jason, who was born on August 28 in Fort Wayne, states that he enjoyed rock ‘n’ roll and country music and loved the song Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

‘Though his time on this earth was short, he will be loved forever,’ states his page on the Myers Funeral Home website.

A private family graveside for Jason will be held at Hoverstock Cemetery in Zanesville. Anyone who wishes to contribute to Jason’s memorial can do so with the funeral home.

Jason is survived by his parents, Austin Kinsey and Violet Weaver, and a brother.

Charles Best. A private family graveside will be held at Hoverstock Cemetery in Zanesville at a later date. Memorial Contributions can be made out to the family, in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington IN 46750.

The five-year-old dog did not have any violent behavior reported to police in the past, according to WPTA. What happened to the dog was not immediately known.

Markle is about 100 miles northeast of Indianapolis.

Jason died just a few weeks after a Colorado police chief’s retired K-9 dog killed his three-year-old daughter. The German Shepherd attacked the girl in the back yard while the cop was away and his wife was home. A sheriff’s office official said that the dog was not trained in bite work, and was euthanized.

And in July, a one-year-old Ohio girl was fatally attacked by her family’s pit bull in the short moment that her mum bent down to pick up laundry.

Pit bulls are to blame for 66% of fatal dog attacks from 2005 to 2019, according to the nonprofit DogsBite.org.
