The war between Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) and Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) finally reaches an end in upcoming EastEnders scenes, with the two entrepreneurs of the Square agreeing to let bygones be bygones.

The feud has been rather heated, with both Ian and Elaine doing their utmost to one up each other following the launch of the latter’s B&B (cough – Boutique Hotel! – cough).

Ian wasn’t pleased when the premises opened for business and did everything in power to cause trouble for Elaine, who had started the venture after moving out of The Vic, determined to embark on a new chapter.

From reporting Elaine to the council to having her posters for her new business defaced, as well as calling the police on her over a showdown with Louie, Ian has stopped at nothing to cause trouble.

Elaine, however, wasn’t one to back down from a challenge and thus resolved to run for council, much to the horror of opponent Ian, who was determined to get elected.

But after a scuffle over posters a few weeks back, the two enemies decided to call a truce of sorts, enjoying a meal together at Peacock Palace, where they finally put down their weapons.

The beginning of something special?

That remains to be seen but as the election grows near, discussion turns once again to the council position.

At an upcoming gala, Ian works the room with confidence. Elaine, meanwhile, feels out of place.

The situation gets worse when a prickly showdown ensues between Elaine and a guest in attendance. But in an unexpected turn of events, she and Ian ultimately decide to put past tensions behind them.

Is this finally the end of their feud? We can certainly hope. But with fans predicting a romance for the pair, will sparks actually fly?

Ian, as fans know, is currently going out with Bea Pollard (Ronni Ancona), who is something of an adversary of Elaine’s following her stay in the B&B.
