When shopping for a new pair of headphones, you’re probably looking for ones that deliver incredible sound quality, fantastic noise-cancelling and unbeatable comfort.

So, when the latest headphones from Bowers and Wilkins landed on my desk, I had to admit I was excited to test them out.

Known for its high-quality headphones, top-rated loudspeakers and wireless speakers, Bowers & Wilkins boast some of the most innovative sound tech out there.

And, from its high-profile collaborations with McLaren and Sir David Beckham (and its pretty eye-watering price point) it’s clear that this sound brand is definitely leaning towards the luxury end of the market.

The exact model I tested was the brand’s latest innovation – the Px7 S3 wireless headphones

In a gorgeous shade of Vintage Maroon, my first impressions of these headphones were just how stylish they are.

Sleek, sturdy and chunky but elegant, they’re a fashion or style-lovers dream. I loved the way the case was the same deep red maroon colour as the headphones themselves.

Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S3 Headphones

Putting on the headphones, you’ll immediately notice how comfortable they are. They fit snugly across the top of your head as well as around your ears and feel safe and secure, rather than slipping or moving around the place.

Before even switching them on you’ll also sense some of the noise-cancelling capabilities. With a snug fit around your head and ears, sound from the outside world is already muffled – pretty impressive seeing as they weren’t even on yet.

Of course, with nearly 60 years of engineering expertise behind them, the sound quality is incredible.

But, predominantly a music listener, I tend to home-in on the quality of the bass in headphones and boy, do these deliver. The sound is rich, deep and clear, without crackling or distortion, which can happen when the volume is turned up.

Honestly? The Px7 S3’s produce the best sound quality I’ve ever experienced.

Thanks to advanced noise cancellation that you can adapt to your surroundings and eight separate microphones, I didn’t hear a peep from the outside world. Traffic, trains and even dogs barking are totally muted to give you exceptional sound quality.

That being said, the headphones couldn’t quite contend with the absolute racket produced by London’s Victoria tube line. But overall, they did a stellar job of quietening the capital’s chaos.

Tend to make a lot of phone calls or FaceTime loved ones? The clarity of phone calls is also exceptional. I could hear every word in conversations that can often be blighted by wind, background noise or distortion.

Built-in aptX™ Lossless and aptX™ Adaptive technology means the connection from your device to the headphones is optimised and reliable too – so don’t expect a shoddy connection here!

Download the Bowers & Wilkins app and you’ll also have greater control over streaming, your preferred style of noise-cancelling, and sound with a customisable five-band EQ.

Of course, at a cost of £399, these headphones aren’t cheap. But, if budget allows then I’m confident you won’t be disappointed with your purchase.

‘The Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S3 really exceeded my expectations. The sound is crystal clear with deep, rich bass and a perfectly balanced tone. They’re very comfortable for long listening, and the build feels truly premium. The noise cancellation works great. Highly recommended.’ Said a user named Fadi S.

And a five-star review from shopper Greg K. said, ‘Absolutely Fantastic! I am simply amazed at the quality and sound!! Very pleased with my purchase!’

Can I have one in every colour?
