Hugh Laurie’s New Apple TV Show Reveals First Look & Sets Release Date

Apple TV has released a first look at Hugh Laurie‘s upcoming crime drama. The House alum is set to star in the show and is credited as an executive producer. The streaming platform has also set a release date for the show.

Titled The Wanted Man, the show is created by George Kay, the creator of Hijack and Lupin. The show is set to be produced by Kay’s Observatory Pictures and New Pictures. George Kay is the creator, writer, and showrunner.

Willow Grylls, who was an executive producer on The Missing, and Matt Sandford are also listed as executive producers on the project. David Meanti will serve as the producer for the series. Dark Matter alum Jakob Verbruggen will direct the show.

The show, which will consist of eight episodes, will premiere on January 6, 2027. The show will release two episodes on its premiere date, followed by one episode every Wednesday. The finale is expected to air on February 17, 2027.

What The Wanted Man is about and who stars alongside Hugh Laurie

According to the official description of the show released by Apple TV Press, The Wanted Man will follow Laurie’s character, Felix Carmichael. He is described as being the head of a crime syndicate. After 20 years, Carmichael is apprehended, betrayed by someone inside his firm, and sent to Staplehurst Prison. As the mysterious traitor moves to dismantle everything he has built, Carmichael sets out to take revenge. However, the first step in the plan is to escape the infamous Staplehurst prison. There is little that the former head of The Capital is willing to let stand in his way.

Apart from Hugh Laurie in the leading role, the show stars Westworld’s Thandiwe Newton, Dunkirk’s Fionn Whitehead, Gina McKee of My Policeman fame, Say Nothing’s Hazel Doupe, Elliott Heffernan from Blitz, and Game of Thrones‘ Stephen Dillane. The roles that the cast will play in the show remain undisclosed.
