Netflix has officially announced the Season 2 renewal of one of its latest comedy series, which had just made its debut last January. Titled Free Bert, the show was led by stand-up comedian Bert Kreischer, who plays a meta version of himself.
“In Season 1, Bert Kreischer—shirtless comedian, party legend, perpetual wildcard—finds himself in uncharted territory when his daughters are accepted to an elite Beverly Hills private school. When his unbridled antics turn his family into outcasts, he decides to “put on a shirt” and stifle his true nature to better fit in,” reads the logline for its debut season.
What do we know about Netflix’s Free Bert Season 2?
Just like with the first installment, production on Free Bert Season 2 is also expected to take place in Atlanta, GA. Further details about the new season’s plot and characters are still under wraps. The show is created by Kreischer, Jarrad Paul, and Andy Mogel, with Paul and Mogel also serving as the showrunners, writers, and directors. The cast also includes Arden Myrin and Chris Witaske, along with newcomers Lilou Lang and Ava Ryan. It currently holds a Tomatometer rating 67% on Rotten Tomatoes.
“We’re incredibly grateful to Netflix for believing in this show and giving us the chance to continue the freeing of Bert,” Paul and Mogel said in a statement.
The renewal comes ahead of Kreischer’s appearance at the Netflix is a Joke Festival 2026, where he’ll be performing the Bert and Shaq’s Crowd Work Show at The Comedy Store on May 8. He is also set to host the 2 Bears 5K with Tom Segura and Jelly Roll at The Rose Bowl on May 9.
