Hereditary’s Milly Shapiro battles a Halloween apocalypse in the first trailer for Shudder’s Hallowarrior. The horror film follows Pumpkin, a lone survivor whose solitary Halloween ritual is shattered when raiders arrive at her door.

Shapiro leads the cast as Pumpkin alongside Shannyn Sossamon as Thalia, with Ajani Russell and A.J. Bowen co-starring. Writer-director Ben Sottak makes his feature directorial debut on the project. Following its world premiere at the 2026 Tribeca Festival on June 10, Hallowarrior begins streaming on Shudder on October 16, 2026.

What happens in Hallowarrior trailer?

The 1-minute and 53-second Hallowarrior trailer introduces Pumpkin through an emergency broadcast on Halloween night. She says October 31 has arrived and calls herself the “last girl on Earth.” Before ending the message, Pumpkin wishes anyone listening a happy Halloween.

Her broadcast soon turns disturbing when Pumpkin talks about protecting someone. She says, “I have to keep you safe, Mommy,” before a voice replies, “Thank you for keeping me safe, my little warrior.” The scene then shifts as voices chant “trick or treat” outside her home.

A group of raiders arrives and makes it clear they want to take over. One warns, “Just wait until our family gets a load of you.” Pumpkin refuses to give up her home and says, “It’s my house.” The intruders answer, “Not anymore.”

The fight grows more dangerous as Pumpkin faces the group alone. One voice warns that they are not good people, followed by the response, “There aren’t any good people left.” Pumpkin then prepares to fight back, leading one attacker to ask, “What are you, a hallow warrior?”

The trailer captures the film’s official premise, which places Pumpkin in a plague-ravaged wasteland. Shudder says she scavenges for supplies before Thalia’s gang interrupts her Halloween ritual. Outnumbered, Pumpkin relies on candy, wit, and weapons to survive the night.

The film is produced by Emmajane Hoffman, Gabriel Rosenstein, Sottak, Danielle Benedict, and Jake Casey. Sottak previously directed commercial campaigns for Warheads, Sweethearts, and the PGA Tour.
