Heated Rivalry fans just got a surprise announcement that makes the wait for Season 2 even harder. A new physical release of the hit hockey drama is heading to stores with multiple format options.

Heated Rivalry physical release brings Blu-ray, DVD and 4K options

A collector’s Blu-ray edition of Heated Rivalry Season 1 officially heads to stores for eager fans. The upcoming physical release bundles Blu-ray, DVD and 4K editions together at a price of $67.99.

The set will not ship until April 2027, likely arriving alongside the second season premiere. Fans can already place pre-orders online well ahead of the official arrival date. The studio has not yet revealed what special features the set will include.

HBO’s steamy hockey drama quickly turned into a cultural phenomenon after its late 2025 premiere. The six-episode first season adapted Rachel Reid’s Game Changers book series for the screen. American audiences drove the show to an average of 10.6 million viewers per episode. Viewership then doubled after the December 26 finale aired on HBO Max. The series initially launched on Canadian streaming service Crave before reaching global audiences.

The show follows the secret long-term romance between hockey rivals Shane and Ilya. Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie portray the two athletes throughout the debut season. Their compelling on-screen dynamic went instantly viral and rapidly built a passionate fanbase worldwide. HBO greenlit a second season before the first had even finished its initial run.

However, Season 2 pivots to an entirely new couple within the franchise’s universe. Justice Smith and Charlie Gillespie step in as Troy Barrett and Harris Drover respectively. Barrett is a hockey player traded to Ottawa, while Drover serves as the team’s social media manager. The new season adapts the fifth book in Reid’s series, titled Role Model.

April 2027 now stands as a landmark month for the growing franchise. Fans will gain access to both the collector’s physical release and the eagerly awaited second season.
