Benjamin Sesko’s former coach believes that the Manchester United forward can become as good a striker as Erling Haaland in time.
The Slovenia international joined Ruben Amorim’s side in a £74million deal with RB Leipzig after a summer where Arsenal and Newcastle United also explored a move.
Sesko scored 39 goals in 87 appearances for the Bundesliga side, including 21 in all competitions last season.
Despite the big fee put down for the 22-year-old, United have yet to start Sesko in the Premier League, with his only start coming in the shock Carabao Cup defeat to League Two Grimsby Town.
Sesko’s slow start to life at Old Trafford has had some questioning the signing, with former Red Devils midfielder Nicky Butt suggesting the money would have been better spent on a Premier League-proven talent.

However, Rene Aufhaser, a former coach of Sesko at Red Bull Salzburg, is confidentthat the striker will prove his talent sooner rather than later.
And the former Austrian international even suggested that Sesko will reach the levels of Manchester City’s star striker Haaland, who has terrorised defences since his move from Borussia Dortmund in 2022.

‘Erling Haaland, I will rate him 10 out of 10,’ Aufhaser told Sky Sports. ‘I think Erling is [an] outstanding striker and Benji [Šeško], I think at the moment maybe he’s a nine, nine-and-a-half out of 10.
‘And he has potential. He will develop in the next one and two years, I’m sure.
‘Erling reached his mark after his transfer from Dortmund to Man City and we will see. I am quite sure Benji will reach this mark after one or two years. But, of course, Erling is the top. He has 10 out of 10 from me.’

Sesko should get a chance to showcase his talents up against Haaland when both Manchester teams face off at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
And the United striker has conceded that the quality of the Premier League has taken some getting used to following his move from Germany.
‘The level of the matches is certainly much higher, the players and teammates are also at a higher level,’ Sesko told Slovenian outlet Ekipa.
‘After all, English football is at the highest level in the world of football.
‘But I am very much looking forward to the coming period, also because I am getting better and faster in every training session, and I am also progressing in my football mentality every day.
Asked about Sunday’s derby, he added: ‘It is an incredibly big match coming up.
‘There will simply be some pressure on both sides to just win this match. There’s still quite a bit to go until this match, but we’re definitely looking forward to a top match.’
