Gundam’s Sydney Sweeney Needed Only ‘Five Seconds’ To Get a Scene Changed

In a recent interview, Spider-Man: Brand New Day star Michael Mando revealed that it took Sydney Sweeney just “five seconds” to get a scene altered in Netflix‘s upcoming Gundam movie. The actor spoke about the film at the 2026 San Diego Comic-Con.

While speaking with Collider’s Perri Nemiroff at the 2026 San Diego Comic-Con, Michael Mando said that there was one aspect of the Gundam movie that particularly bothered him. According to him, though, his co-star, Sydney Sweeney, decided to solve the issue on her own after sensing this.

“There was something — I won’t say exactly what, that the producers wanted me to do, like a piece of something — I don’t want to get into too much detail — and I wasn’t sure about it,” the Canadian actor noted.

He continued, “I remember walking with Sydney from my trailer to the warehouse where we were going to shoot our scenes, and Sydney just turned to me…I mean, I was hiding it, and she just turned to me, and she goes, ‘Is that yours or is that your character’s thing?’ And I go, ‘It’s my character’s thing.’ And she goes, ‘Do you like it?’ I go, ‘Not really.’ She goes, ‘I don’t like it.’ She goes, ‘Come with me.’ She spoke to the producer, and within five seconds, it was out.”

Mando then praised Sydney Sweeney for her considerate behavior on set, stating, “I thought, what a generous actor that will look at someone and realize they were uncomfortable with something, and she would take it upon herself to make the actor feel comfortable. I thought she was a great number one.”

In addition to Mando and Sweeney, the Gundam movie also features Noah Centineo, Shioli Kutsuna, Nonso Anozie, Jackson White, and Jason Isaacs, among others. While the project does not have an official release date as of yet, fans can expect the Jim Mickle-helmed feature to premiere on Netflix sometime next year.
