The price gain pushed market capitalization up 9% to $4.12 billion. Trading volume over 24 hours climbed 41% to $132.4 million. The move erased the bearish trend that had held GRAM over the past seven days.

How Money Works Inside Telegram

Money lets users store and send GRAM directly from the messaging app. They can also buy Telegram gifts and collectible usernames. Transfers are described as instant and carry no network fees.

Telegram is launching its wallet for everyone

It used to be available to only some @telegram users. Now the wallet is called Money, and Telegram is rolling it out widely inside the messenger to its audience of over a billion people.

The Money section appears after a user receives an incoming transfer. From there, users can top up the wallet from their Walt account in a few taps.

Telegram founder Pavel Durov first outlined plans for a native wallet in July. He proposed instant, fee-free transfers with self-custody built into the app. Holders would control their own crypto instead of leaving it with Telegram.

By Aug. 31, Durov said selected accounts had started receiving access. He said availability would grow gradually. Network validators had approved the wallet’s smart contract before release.

Durov also described a design that lets developers upgrade the wallet. Holders would not need to move their assets to a new contract.

Walt Handles Trading Separately

Walt is a separate service from Telegram’s native wallet. It was formerly called Wallet in Telegram and took its new name in a Sept. 28 announcement. The Open Platform develops it.

Walt supports more than 300 assets across four blockchains. It lists more than 200 cryptocurrencies for trading and over 100 tokenized stocks, ETFs and metals. Perpetual futures cover more than 70 assets, including oil, natural gas and metals.

Walt also offers Earn products for stablecoins, GRAM, Tether Gold, Solana, Ethereum and Tron. CEO Andrew Rogozov said the product grew from a simple buying tool into a full crypto platform inside Telegram.

Money and Walt also differ in custody. Money is non-custodial. Walt offers both custodial and decentralized finance wallets.

Walt said on Oct. 8 that existing accounts, balances and wallet addresses stayed the same after the rename. The service no longer appears in Telegram settings. Users can open it through Telegram search.

Toncoin became Gram on June 15. The name, ticker and logo changed, while the blockchain kept the TON name. Balances carried over automatically, and holders did not need to swap tokens.

Money’s availability still depends on rollout and access conditions for each user. Walt announced the wider rollout on Friday, and GRAM traded at $1.56 following the news.
