Filming is underway in Liverpool, which will serve as a stand-in for Gotham. On X, user @JackkDoylee posted several photos of the map of Gotham City. The map reveals several key locations, including Wayne Tower, Arkham Asylum, City Hall, G.C.P.D. Headquarters, Iceberg Lounge, and more.

Though Wayne Enterprises is seen on the map, Batman is not expected to appear in Clayface.

Clayface has been described as “a body horror story about an up-and-coming actor whose face is disfigured by a gangster. As a last resort, he turns to a scientist who transforms his body into clay.”

Tom Rhys Harries stars as the titular Clayface, the iconic DC villain and primary antagonist of Batman. DC has not confirmed which version of Clayface Harries will portray. However, The Wrap reported that the Matt Hagen version of the character will be used in the movie.

Harries reportedly beat out Jack O’Connell, Tom Blyth, and George MacKay for the role.

Joining Harries in Clayface is Naomi Ackie, who is set to play an “Elizabeth Holmes-style scientist.”

Eddie Marsan is rumored to be playing an undisclosed role, while Max Minghella is expected to portray a Gotham City police detective dating Ackie’s character. Marsan and Minghella have been spotted on the set in Liverpool.

James Watkins is directing Clayface. Watkins recently helmed the American remake of Speak No Evil. Horror maestro Mike Flanagan wrote the script. Flanagan typically writes and directs his own projects, but scheduling conflicts prevented him from directing the film.

Clayface’s producers are James Gunn, Peter Safran, Matt Reeves, and Lynn Harris. Clayface will be part of DCU’s Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.

Clayface opens in theaters on September 11, 2026.
